Internally displaced women and children (Pikba village)
Children naturally are a gift from God, which we need to love and cherish. They all have the right to be love and protected in all the dimensions in life, but from the look of things that is not the case today in our reality. Many are exposed to so many abuses and are equally deprived of their rights as children. We need to do some before it’s too late to save theseinnocent creatures of God who are crying for help, because on their own they can do nothing but with the help of the church and the state, these little lilies of God can be safe from the lion`s den.
Since October 2016, there has been an alar- ming increase in the vulnerability of children especially the internally displaced children from the north and south west of Cameroon. These children are found floating the streets of the other regions of Cameroon, for example the case of East Cameroon where by many internally displace children are found.
Increased social and economic insecurity
Many of these internally displaced children have become street children in the eastern region of Cameroon. This is because back in their various villages their parents hard farms and plots of their own where by they could Farm and earn a living. But today being displacedfrom their places of origin they do not even have homes talk less of lands to do farming consequently this has pushed most of the children to go in to the streets to beg in order to survive. Again, because of this crisis in the North and the South west many parents have been killed living majority of the children orphans. Therefore, these children go on the streets begging just to have food to eat, many are being abuse sexually, and some even killed.Another consequent of the vulnerable internally displace children in the east region of Cameroon is the lack of Education. Since they are now found completely in another region, the surviving parents have no means to pay the school fees of the children. This is not affecting just the children but the whole economy of the country as a whole, because these children who are not educated are a menace to the society as a whole. As they are not going to school, they involve themselves in ills such as prostitution, banditism and drug addiction.
Advocate for their cause through social advocacy
As enumerated above, the enormous consequences of the vulnerable children, precisely the internal displaced found here in the east region need help both from the church, N.G.O and the government. By so doing they would bring joy into the lives of these little lilies of God that are crying for help, because if there is no solution to their problem not only they are suffering but the country as a whole. This is because if these children are educated it’s would lead to development of the economy of our country since many of them would be working in the various sectors of the country. This can be done by creating projects, which would enable the internal displaced families and children to have shelters of their own and create job opportunities for their parents to help cater for these children and their various needs. By so doing, the children would be able to go back to school and as such reducing the rate of criminality and other practices that are not helpful to the society. In this way, we would build a strong and positive nation where by everyone is feeling belonging./.
